Just like any religion, the Umma seeks to improve the lives of all its people. Whether it be by holding a door for a stranger at church/mosque or comforting a crying friend, helping someone in even the smallest of ways makes a difference. Islam preaches to give to the poor and to be good to others, just like Christianity says to be kind and good to everyone, even your enemy. This is one of the many ways that I have seen after all the presentations that Christianity and Islam are similar.
Great points Madeleine! I like how you focused specifically on how the "Umma seeks to improve the lives of all its people". What/Who in christianity specifically relates to the umma in Islam?
Thanks Annie :). I think that Jesus's disciples and followers really relate to the Umma in that they spread the word of God and showed by example the way to live out a Christian life. Even though they were not Christian at the time, they showed the way to follow in the Jesus's footsteps and how to be kind to others in order to expect the same respect in return. I think that the Umma tries to preach this same mutual respect for others.
